Terminated Shikshakarmis won't be reinstated for now, hints, CM

In a majot set back to the Shikshakarmis revolting for their two-point demands benefits of Sixth pay Panel recommendations and merger with the Education Department, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh on Tuesday sent a clear message saying the terminated Shikshakarmis for the time being will remain terminated till further order.

The striking Shikshakarmis were cautiously optimistic after their marathon meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh at mantralaya in naya Raipur on Friday. Responding to the assurance given by the Chief Minister, thousands of shikshakarmis (Grade-I, II and III) observing strike at Sapre School ground since December 3, 2012 till date postponed their courting arrest scheduled to be held on Friday. The Shikshakarmis, however, staged 'symbolic arrest' which went off peacefully.

Talks fail, Shikshakarmis to court arrest today


The Shikshakarmi delegation coming out of the Vikas Bhavan, late on Thursday evening, declared that talks have failed to reach a consensus with the government. With this, the demand of striking shikshakarmis from the state government officials for sixth pay panel recommendation benefits and merger with education department has collapsed. The Shikshakarmis, thus have decided to court arrest on Friday.

Despite Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh's rejection of Shikshakarmis' two-point demands, their strike completed a month on January 2, 2013. It is to be mentioned that the shikshakarmis started observing strike from December 3, 2012 in favor of their demands- Shikshakarmis' merger with education department and benefits of sixth pay panel recommendations. Meanwhile reports from Kanker clamed that a Grade-III shikshakarmi identified as Jhrumuklal Mandevi, posted at Pakhanjur primary school in Kolibeda development block of Kanker District, committed suicide by hanging himself.

Besides focus on the effective implementation of historic Food Security Act of Chhattisgarh and other schemes, foundations for which have already been laid, the State Government would ensure that the benefits of the public welfare schemes reach the last beneficiary, stated Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh on Wednesday. Reacting sharply on Shikshakarmis' strike issue, he said that Government cannot accept their current demands.

Shikshakarmis to court arrest on Jan 4


Around 30,000 Shikshakarmis from across the State, including thousands of women, organised a massive 'dhikkar rally' amidst raising slogans against Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal and other BJP Ministers and leaders at Sapre School ground on Monday afternoon. However, the Shikshakarmis were blocked between Bijli office chowk (Near Sapre School) and Dharna Sthal (Budhatalab) by the heavy police force by barricading the routes.

Striking Shikshakarmis have decided to write letters with their 'blood' and shot it to Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and school Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal to make them to realise that how difficult it was for the Shikshakarmis to manage themselves with the present facilities they were being facilitated with. "51 of our Shikshakarmis would write 51 letters in their blood.

336 Shikshakarmis terminated


An order of termination against 311 striking shikshakarmis of Raipur district has been issued by the District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Shami Abidi. The CEO said that a total of 1239 shikshakarmis of the district officially joined duty and it has been reported to their respective block and district headquarters.
