BSNL observes one day Nation-wide strike

After the failure of meeting with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Management at New Delhi on December 12, around 13 lakh BSNL employees observed one-day nation-wide strike on Thursday. Strike observed was 100 per cant successful as all the exchanges and BSNL officers remained deserted and works completely suspended.

Pressing for their demand like production based bonus and others, the members of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Employees Union (BSNLEU) will observe nation-wide one-day strike on December 15. In Raipur, BSNLEU will stage demonstration at General Manager Telecom District (GMTD) office Fafadih.

BSNLEU members start two-day hunger strike


On the of United Forum of BSNL Unions, New Delhi, the members of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Employees Union (BSNLEU) started two-day hunger strike against the enti-employee policies of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Management at the office of BSNL General Manager Telecom District (GMTD) Fafadih. Members of BSNLEU staged Dharna and shouted slogans while the BSNLEU Circle Secretary SC Bhattacharya, Assistant Circle Secretary RP Atmapujya and Disrict Secretary Manoj Kumar Gupta addressed the agitating employees.

Dr. Alok Shukla is State President of "Shiksha Manch"

State President of Sarva Brahmin Samaj (SBS), Lalit Mishra has designated educationist Dr. Alok Shukla on the post of state President of "Shiksha Manch" which is a unit of the samaj.
The objective of the Shiksha Manch is to bring the prominent educationists of the state together on a forum who will further make substantial attempt to promote education activities across the state, said Mishra. Dr. Shukla is at present working as deputy Director of the Higher Education Department.

Shikshakarmis detained for shouting slogans

Another faction of the shikshakarmis under the banner of C'garh Shikshakarmis Sanghtook to streets on Monday raising the demand of their merger with the Education and tribal departments of Chhattisgarh Government. Later, Police detained around 30 shishakarmis at Gole Bazar police station.

India: Striking teachers in Chhattisgarh arrested
Up to 2,000 striking contract teachers in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh were arrested this week after the government invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act. Over 1,000 were arrested in Raipur, where teachers had travelled from across the state to protest. Police set up roadblocks around the city and began detaining teachers trying to get to the protest.
