Outbreak of diarrhoea in Kodripal village in Chhattisgarh's Sukma District has claimed lives of three villagers including a woman while twenty-four others fell ill. The victims were hospitalized. At least eight police personnel of Chhindgarh Chowk in Sukma district were injured in a Naxalite ambush on Wednesday. Two seriously injured police were airlifted to Jagdalpur for treatment. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was killed and another sustained critical injury, when rebels ambushed them during their routine day-out operation on Monday morning, just 1.5 kilo meters from Bhejji police station in Konta block of restive Sukma district of Bastar region. According to information reaching here, the deceased as K Kumar, a Head Constable of CRPF 2nd Battalion posted in Konta, whereas the injured CRPF personnel is Arjun Rao, a constable of the same battalion.
Two days after a suspected Naxal, Pudiyami Mada, reportedly committed suicide at the Sukma police station, the Chhattisgarh police today blamed “severe torture by CRPF”.
According to the Sukma police station diary, Mada was nabbed by a CRPF team “headed by Assistant Commandant, 2nd Battalion, Ashish Kumar on Friday morning” and handed over to the police at around 8:30 am. He hanged himself in the lock-up at around 9:30 pm.
But the police today said the CRPF personnel had nabbed Mada a few days earlier.
