Chhattisgarh asks officers to shun public functions

Raipur, Nov 26 (IANS) In a strongly-worded circular, Chhattisgarh's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has asked officers of all ranks to avoid public functions to gain personal publicity.

In a circular sent by the general administration department to divisional commissioners, district collectors and chief executive officers of the district panchayats, the government has said no official should attend public functions as chief or special guest or preside over such functions.

NTPC adds 500 MW unit in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 26 (IANS) The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), India's largest power producer, has added a 500 MW coal-fired unit at Korba in Chhattisgarh, a company statement said Friday.

'The new 500-MW unit of NTPC's Korba super thermal power station in Chhattisgarh has been synchronised with the grid,' the statement said.

The Korba project of NTPC, based some 240 km north of capital Raipur, already has three units of 200 MW each in Stage-I and three units of 500 MW each in Stage-II.
