Govt school teachers to organise a state-wide protest on Tuesday

Raipur: Thousands of teachers across Chhattisgarh will hold protest demonstrations in 146 block headquarters of the state on Tuesday. Sudhir Gautam, the president of the 'Chhattisgarh Shikshak Sangh', said that the teachers are demanding that they be given the second increment of one-step-up central payscale from April 1999, notification of promotion regulations in the Tribal Department and removal of the discrepancies in the time-bound payscales.

Chhattisgarh to file review petition against SC ruling on SPOs

Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Saturday said the state government will file a review petition in the Supreme Court against its direction to disarm special police officers and denied that minors were employed as SPOs. "We will file a review petition against the Supreme Court
order on Special Police Officers. We are consulting experts on the issue. I met (senior lawyer) Harish Salve and Arun Jaitley. We will 100% go for a review petition," Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

Postal department makes job search easy

Raipur: The postal department has introduced i Code Card to make job search easy for unemployed people in Chhattisgarh and the neighbouring states.

The new system which starts functioning from June 13 will help bridge the gap between companies and the job aspirants.

Chhattisgarh Circle Assistant Director (BD) MR Kavadkara told that with the help of i Code Card unemployed people can log on to www.icodecity.com and register themselves at the employment exchange. After the registration, the information of the unemployed will be available to employers.

Model answers of VYAPAM exams declared


Raipur: Chhattisgarh Vyavasayik Pariksha Mandal (VYAPAM) has declared model answers to the Pre Polytechnic Test and Pre Pharmacy Test which were held on May 22. The answers can be seen on VYAPAM’s official website.

26742 students had appeared for PPT and 6670 for PPhT this year. Dr BP Tripathi, the examination controller of VYAPAM, said that student claims for objection can be made till 5:00pm on June 13. The students will have to be present at the office with proper evidence supporting their claim to get it accepted.

Court warns Centre, Chhattisgarh against appointing SPOs

Even as the Centre and the Chhattisgarh government justified the appointment of Special Police Officers (SPOs) to tackle naxalites, the Supreme Court warned them that a dangerous situation would arise if these officers turned against the State.

During the last hearing, a Bench of Justices B. Sudershan Reddy and S.S. Nijjar disapproved of the appointment of the SPOs taking shelter under the colonial 1861 Police Act, which provides for such appointments for a short period.

Seven IAS officers transferred in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 2 (PTI) The Chhattisgarh Government today transferred seven IAS officers, including Collectors of Raigarh, Bilaspur and Durg districts. B L Agarwal, member of Bilaspur Revenue Division, has been transferred and appointed Secretary (Cooperative) with additional responsibility as Sugarcane Commissioner, official sources said. D C Mishra, a Secretary in Home Department, will replace Agarwal, they said. Among other officers, A K Agarwal, Collector of Raigarh, has been shifted and named Chief Executive Officer of Raipur Development Authority.

Chhattisgarh to shut 250 liquor shops

Chhattisgarh government has decided to close down 250 liquor shops in the state from the next financial year.

The decision, which is aimed at keeping a tab on increasing liquor consumption in the state, will cause Rs 100 crore loss to the state exchequer annually.
Chhattisgarh at present has 1054 liquor shops spread across the length and breath of the state.

"The state government has decided to close down the shop in the village that house a population of less than 2000 (according to 2001 census)", state excise minister Amar Agrawal said.

Army confirms first training base in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Confirming TOI report on December 13 that the Army had identified land for a training base in Narayanpur district along the edges of Abhujmaad — a Maoist-controlled forest plateau straddling Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra — the Army authorities here have issued a press release describing the move as a win-win prospect for both the people of the region and the armed forces.
