Sirpur National Dance and Music Festival 2014 :-
For the first time, three important workshops based on indigenous artforms of Chhattisgarh will be organized in the prestigious event of National Music and Dance Festival, which is to be organized in Sirpur, the place known as 'Shripur' in Indian History the ancient capital of Dakshin Kaushal. Chhattisgarh Tourism Board will organize this mega-event at all-India level. Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh will inaugurate this event. Various cultural programmes will be organized during this three-day mega-event. Other than the cultural programmes, three important workshops will be organized during these three days. The workshops, based on indigenous folk dances and handicraft (terracotta), will be held in daytime from 10am to 5pm. In this workshop, youngsters will be taught the technique of making some of the rare indigenous musical instruments like tamboora, mohri, runjhu, gatka, ghumda, khanjri, dholak, charhe, khirkhitti, nagdevan, etc. This will be the major attraction of the event. Moreover, the workshop on folk dances of Chhattisgarh like Karma, Panthi, Sua, Bhojli, Dadariya etc and also a workshop on state's famous terracotta handicraft will also be organized.
